Transom windows between the doorways throughout this house allow for natural light to flow.
Countertops
The marble island is 2” thick to balance the 10 foot ceilings. Granite on the perimeter of the kitchen was mitered to look as though it is 2” thick and mirror the marble.
Kitchen Design
Ten foot ceilings called for a beefy design with an upper row of cabinets to the ceiling. Cabinetry from Crown-Point have 1” thick solid doors as a standard. Plenty of storage for year round living and active cooking.
Utilizing Space
Utilizing all of the space was important. Rooms that are not used have bad energy in a home. Four oversized rooms on the first floor, plus a large mudroom to balance five bedrooms, were designed for this family to make use of all of the space.
